Principal's Corner

Welcome to Walls Elementary School!

Our staff is committed to helping each child learn and grow to reach his/her maximum potential!!

I knew I wanted to teach when I was in junior high.  I read the book Somebody Else's Kids by Tory L. Hayden for a book report.  I was so inspired by her story that I wanted to teach students with special needs. This is my twentieth year in education.  I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a bachelor's degree in special education and endorsement in gifted education.  I taught in high school special education and gifted education in Paris, Tennessee, and Franklin, Tennessee, for three years.  I then took a job teaching special education in a K - 4th grade elementary school for one year in Nashville.  After that year, my husband and I moved to DeSoto County in 2002.  I taught special education for a year at Horn Lake Middle School.  I had the opportunity the next two years to work in the special services department at the district office assisting with intervention services provided in schools.  In 2005, I wanted to return to the classroom.  I moved to Lewisburg Elementary School as a special education teacher when the school opened.  In 2007, I became an assistant principal at Lewisburg Elementary after earning my master's degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University. I moved to Hernando Middle School in 2013 as an assistant principal where I served in that role until I was selected to be the principal at Walls Elementary School.

I am very excited to be the principal at Walls Elementary School.  I love to mentor students and watch them learn and grow!!
