Kindergarten 3rd 9 Weeks Skills *focus skills are continuously retaught during the weeks after the skill is introduced

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

By the end of this nine weeks your child should know/master the following skills in order to be successful in first grade:

·                     All letter names, sounds, and formations, Independently reading on at least a level B, Independently read 50 or more sight words, Write simple sentences independently ,and Count and write numbers independently

TSW learn about the season of winter and all about Arctic animals.

TSW discover various ways holidays are celebrated around the world.    

Social Studies

TSW discuss and understand various cultures. TSW compare/contrast various cultures to their own.  

Health

TSW understand and discuss how following school rules produces a safe environment.

TSW learn that exercise and motion helps his/her brain function better.

TSW participate in various songs, dances, games during class, recess, and P.E.

TST/Remediation/ELL

TSW have additional computer time on starfall, additional help from peers/teachers, longer time to complete work, work in small groups and/or one on one with the teacher.

Enrichment

TSW assist other classmates with classwork (peer tutoring), additional independent reading time, additional time on computer

 

*Small Groups/Conferencing will occur during workstations.

 

*Workstations include literacy tubs, math tubs, writing, art, science/social studies, and free centers.

 

*Sight words will be taught according to each child. Each child will be given a list of 10 words. Once a child reads those 10 words, then another 10 will be added. This allows students to learn sight words at his/her own pace. Children who have not mastered letter names and letter sounds will not move onto sight words until he/she knows all letter names and sounds.
