Our school’s house system celebrates the achievements of eight legendary Mississippians, inspiring students to embody their remarkable traits and contributions. Here's a closer look at each house, its namesake, and their ties to Mississippi:

  • The House of Presley (Green): Represented by the bold mustang, Presley students are adventurous and fiercely determined. They honor the legacy of Elvis Presley, the "King of Rock and Roll," whose groundbreaking music and electrifying performances changed the entertainment industry forever. Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, where his journey to global stardom began.

  • The House of King (Yellow): With the cheetah as their emblem, King students are charismatic, resourceful, and quick thinkers. They draw inspiration from B.B. King, the "King of the Blues," whose soulful guitar playing and iconic voice brought blues music to the world stage. King was born near Berclair, Mississippi, and his early years in the Delta deeply influenced his music.

  • The House of Henson (Grey): Guided by the imaginative dolphin, Henson students are creators and dreamers. They follow in the footsteps of Jim Henson, the legendary puppeteer and creator of the Muppets, who revolutionized children’s television and storytelling. Henson spent his early childhood in Leland, Mississippi, where his creativity began to flourish.

  • The House of Welty (Blue): Symbolized by the mighty lion, Welty students are natural-born leaders and scholars. They honor Eudora Welty, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose evocative stories and novels captured the complexities of Southern life with vivid detail. Welty was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, which served as the backdrop for much of her writing.

  • The House of Manning (Black): Represented by the wise and loyal elephant, Manning students are deeply rooted in tradition and family values. They celebrate the Manning family, including NFL icons Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning, whose athletic excellence and leadership have inspired generations. Archie Manning was born in Drew, Mississippi, where his football legacy began before he became a star at Ole Miss.

  • The House of Pride (Orange): Embodied by the adventurous tiger, Pride students embrace exploration and learning. They honor Charley Pride, a trailblazing country music star who became one of the first African-American artists to achieve widespread success in the genre, breaking racial barriers. Pride was born in Sledge, Mississippi, where his love for music and baseball first took root.

  • The House of Winfrey (Purple): With the regal owl as their symbol, Winfrey students exude grace, wisdom, and empathy. They are inspired by Oprah Winfrey, a global media mogul and philanthropist, whose journey from humble beginnings in Mississippi to becoming one of the most influential women in the world is a testament to perseverance and vision. Winfrey was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, where she overcame early challenges to achieve greatness.

  • The House of Grisham (Red): Represented by the creative and spirited wolf, Grisham students are energetic and artistic. They look up to John Grisham, a bestselling author whose legal thrillers have captivated readers around the globe, often shedding light on important societal issues. Grisham was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, but spent much of his life in Southaven, Mississippi, which inspired the Southern settings in many of his novels.

Each house embodies the spirit of its namesake, encouraging students to pursue greatness in their unique ways. As students earn points for demonstrating leadership, kindness, and academic success, the house with the highest score each week flies their flag and enjoys a special treat.
